If you manage to get past Schwartz on St-Laurent, you will come across Coco Rico. They offer portuguese chicken, pork and even ribs! As you walk in, you are welcome by lines of chicken being roasted. The smell is enticing, but the place itself is quite tiny. The only place to sit down is in front of a cold, dirt-crusted mirror, on stools. I must say though that I was quite excited for the chicken, as I saw a batch of them finishing to cook. Unfortunately, as I ordered my trio chicken sandwich I was disappointed by the fact that they used the previous, older chicken.
They offered me the spicy sauce to which I promptly reply YES! I sat down with my trio, which includes the chicken sandwich (containing both white and brown meat), a salad of my choice and potatoes.eè
The coleslaw was very good, creamy and slightly sour/sweet. For the potatoes, it was another story. They were cold, although they seemed very appetizing. The seasoning wasn’t enough to make up for it. The cold removed all the flavour and the joy of eating them. For the chicken sandwich, I was satisfied! I must say the sauce was the center of the taste. I think the sauce makes it for every portuguese chicken. It was very pleasant and, unlike what’s it called, wasn’t spicy at all. The only thing I have to say though is that the chicken was a bit too dry for my taste. I would have loved those freshly-out-of-the-oven chicken. The soda wasn’t included
As final words, Coco Rico is a decent portuguese place. The competition, though, is fierce and it’ll have to do much more in order to get on top. I wouldn’t say the best, but if you are craving some chicken and you are in the neighbourhood, I would gladly point you the directions to it!

I really really love this place. I can’t believe you got old chicken. Never happened to me before
I do agree that the potatoes are a bit bland. You should try Piri Piri next to metro Mont Royal next time. It is better in comparison (meat so moist).
Well, old chicken as in “Been there under those heat lights for I don’t know how long”, and Piri Piri sounds amazing! I’ll give it a shot! Thanks! :D
